Best of: Moisturizers

Moisturizers used to be something that I absolutely hated! They would either make my skin sting or make me feel greasy and oily. The stinging was because I was using tretinoin, epiduo and prescription benzoyl peroxide. But I had to, cause the doctor told me to. Can you imagine how damaged my skin barrier must have been? No wonder I got giant hurtful red bumps that would stay on my face for months. The doctor never recommended a good moisturizer though. They would always recommend oil-free, mattifying moisturizers. This past year, I have rediscovered moisturizers, and I can safely say they are my most favorite product to use out of my entire routine. The ones I’m going to mention below are tried and tested, they will never leave your skin feel greasy or irritated, instead, they plump and smooth the skin and leave it soft to the touch while they seal in the hydration and keep it moisturized.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream

This daily moisturizer smooths and soothes the skin. I don’t like that it has some coconut oil in it, but I do like the rest of the soothing ingredients. No fragrance, no alcohol. Comes with a cool push pump so you don’t have to dig in for the product. Frankly, I don’t think it’s worth the splurge, because, besides the lactic acid and goat milk, it’s quite basic. $50 at Nordstrom or Sephora.

Herbivore Botanicals Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Creme

I’m going to keep it real and admit that this is not the type of moisturizer I would typically go for. The texture is more of a gel-like butter, and it smells like rose petals. However, the list of ingredients doesn’t disappoint except for the shea butter and the tinsy bit of alcohol at the very end of the list. I am ok with it because it must be minuscule. This cream gives the most amazing, instant lit from within kind of glow. You only need a small amount! I like to use a spatula to scoop some out instead of my hands. $48 at Sephora.

CosRX Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion

This is a great hydrating moisturizer. Made with birch sap, this super-humectant will keep your skin plump for hours! There’s some citrus oil in here and the last ingredient is tea tree oil. I love tea tree, I hate citrus oils – especially the scent. I really do love the feeling this leaves behind on the skin, it instantly feels invigorated. Comes with a pump and a lot of product for $16 on Amazon.

CosRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

I am obsessed with this stuff! It’s so lightweight and I just enjoy using it so much!! I will typically top off my moisturizer with this during my evening routine. It has a smooth milky-gel-like texture and applies like a dream. It keeps my skin soothed, calm, and when I wake up the next morning it’s still smooth, never greasy. Squeezy tube is super convenient. $16 on Amazon.

EltaMD AM Therapy

This is the best moisturizer for the morning. It wears unbelievably under makeup. It contains niacinamide which is a huge plus. I love that it comes with a pump because it makes everything faster and easier. I’m on my second bottle going on my third. What else can I say? $32.50 on Amazon.

Bioderma Cicabio

This product is a life saver. It does everything I want for my sensitive, mostly in discomfort skin. I am always battling a cyst, scab or scar. This product moisturizers while it soothes the urge to scratch or feel any discomfort. It creates a breathable film and along with copper, zinc, and hyaluronic acid it serves as the perfect moisturizer. It’s only $11.90 at Beautylish.

Bioderma Sensibio Light

I just can’t with this moisturizer. It’s the best for my skin type! Truly, it is so good. It’s so simple. No fuss, no worries of clogged pores, just calm and soothed skin. There’s a Riche version with mineral oil if you have serious flaky skin. This formula is very clean. I like simple and clean because it’s what works best for my very oily skin. It’s $19.90 at Beautylish.

Bioderma Tolerance+

I picked this up while I was in Greece, in lieu of the Sensibio Light because they were out of stock at the pharmacy I was shopping. It was such a happy accident. I fell in love with this moisturizing treatment! This is my No.1 moisturizer for the year, and probably ever. This is targeted to soothe skin that’s in discomfort or with redness. Tetrapeptides and an amazing velvet serum-like texture. Comes with a pump. It’s a dream! $24.90 at Beautylish.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk, Herbivore Botanicals Pink Cloud, and Bioderma Cicabio were sent to me as pr gifts but all opinions are my own after testing the products for myself.
