What is it?
The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair line is targeted to those with dry, chemically treated or damaged hair. The claims are that it provides hydration benefits through a unique combination of algae extract, panthenol, and biotin. Algae extract nourishes and strengthens the hair while panthenol enhances hair elasticity, moisture retention and flexibility. Biotin strengthens the hair shaft and hair follicle to prevent future damage.
The shampoo is velvety soft in texture and it comes in a bottle with a pump for ease of use which is always appreciated. The deep conditioning mask is a thick buttery texture that comes in a tub. The leave-in mask is a spray mask that you can put on wet or dry clean hair to help it strengthen and keep it tame and soft.
The fragrance is citrus based, like fresh grapefruit and oranges. It’s a very subtle fragrance that doesn’t linger, it quickly dissipates which is always a plus for me.
How do you use it? What are the results?
I used the shampoo for three consecutive weeks since I wash my hair once a week – the secret to having healthy hair tbh. After that, I started using it every other week, or every two weeks sometimes (using other products I was testing in between). The shampoo is velvety in texture and it comes with a pump which is always appreciated. I particularly liked the amount of lather it gave me, not too much, not too little. It didn’t leave the hair feeling squeaky clean which I hate. Instead it left my hair feeling super soft to the touch, even while wet. I use quite a bit of product when I wash my hair. I start at the crown, then do the sides, then the bottom, then part my hair down the middle and focus on the back center of the scalp. I only use the shampoo on my scalp and rinse multiple times in between. I follow up with the deep conditioning mask on wet hair, I apply on the mid lengths through the ends and leave it on while I wash my body, maybe 3-5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and put in my Aquis waffle turban for maybe 10 minutes. Then take it off and apply the leave in spray mask throughout the mid-lengths and ends of my hair. The results when my hair dried were very impressive, every single time. My hair felt extremely velvety and touchable. My waves were nicely defined with minimum frizz. I never felt my hair weighed down, and I had a good amount of volume throughout. I was so impressed with this combo! I really dig it!
Would I repurchase?
The amount of product here would be good enough to get me through at least a year, since I would probably not use this every week, but every other week. I think a repairing shampoo is good to use intermediately with a “normal” shampoo something that’s just mild like the Amika normcore shampoo and conditioner or the Oribe signature line. To answer the question, yes I would purchase this duo to always have on hand for monthly use! I would definitely purchase the leave in mask because that stuff is so easy to use and it really does give immediate results.
