Overall: Within the past year C-Firma by Drunk Elephant quickly became a cult favorite for many skincare addicts. This vitamin c serum claims a highly stabilized form of L-Ascorbic Acid accompanied by lovely “clean” ingredients such as Ferulic Acid, Vitamin E, Chronocyclin, Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Pomegranate Enzyme, and Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer. C-Firma has become a sought-out vitamin c product around the world, but is it worth the hype? I didn’t think so at first. I thought it wasn’t doing much for my skin, until I stopped using it for about a month while I went on vacation and skipped on bringing it with me. I saw how much more dull, lackluster, flat, and inflamed my skin could get without the use of a vitamin c serum. My acne scarring turned out to look more purple and red, and I felt like my skin was less supple. Now I’m back from vacation and used the last drop of my C-Firma and I’m sad. Will I purchase again? I’m not sure. I think I’m going to try a comparable to C-Firma vitamin c serum, and then maybe compare the two. Possibly something with a lower price-tag like the Triple C Lightning Liquid by Cosrx at $27.
How: I use this in my day time routines, but it can be used during the evening as well. First, I cleanse my face and tone with a hydrating mist, then I use the C-Firma. This has stung my skin when it’s been more sensitive or over-exfoliated (oops!). I try to avoid using too many acids with my daily routine or maybe alternate the use of vitamin c to every other day instead of every day. While this serum is a powerful antioxidant against free radicals and can reverse the appearance of fine lines and dark spots, it is important that I follow with a good moisturizer and a strong SPF. I use Bioderma Hydrabio Gel-Creme and Farmacy Green Screen.
