Lip Treatments and Top Lipsticks

Lips have been a hot topic for a minute now. I’m glad the world is moving away from the overly matte, crusty lips, and we’re seeing more and more hydrated, supple lips that are more moisturized and glowy. I haven’t always been a fan of lip color. It makes a significant difference in my appearance though! It can definitely set the tone for a look. Assuming lip care and lip color is equally important to you, I have put together all the lip care products I’ve been using and loving this year.

Lip Balms and Treatments

Let’s start with the most predictable lip care product, Glossier’s balm dotcom. I’ve loved the consistency and lasting power of this product so much that I have three different versions of it. Cherry, rose and birthday cake. My favorite being cherry of course! It has the perfect reddish hue and gives a pouty look to the lips. I like to use it before make-up during my morning routine. Rose and birthday cake are still great, but I prefer to use them in my nighttime routines.

Another favorite is Basalt’s overnight masque. It’s rich in oils, and it has the most amazing formula. You only need a pin-head sized amount for your entire lips. It literally melts into the skin and leaves the most beautiful glassy finish. Moisturizing and nourishing, but not as long lasting as I’d like it to be. Definitely, a joy to wear though!

Honorary mentions to Pur-lisse’s mango lip nourisher and Bite Beauty’s agave lip mask. I love the Pur-lisse because it’s effortless, easy, and smells nice. The Bite Beauty mask is very thick and doesn’t emulsify as easily. I wish it wasn’t as sticky to the touch. But once blended on the lips it has a gorgeous finish!

Lip Color

This is a transitional product between a treatment and a color. Dior’s lip glow pomade gives the most flattering hue of flush on the skin, and a beautiful understated gloss. Never sticky, never messy, and it’s got beautiful packaging. I love how soft my lips feel with this and it gives me just the right amount of color.

These two are the best colors and the best formula lipsticks I have tried in a very long time. You’ve probably seen them around, and you’ve probably lusted over them. Kosas lipsticks in Undone and Rosewater. Undone give me a ‘my lips but better’ look, while Rosewater gives my lips the perfect pinky-mauve-nude hue I could ever imagine. The formula is moisturizing, yet matte, but with a quiet natural, lived-in finish. These are magical and the packaging is on point. They make me look so good when I feel like a dud. Seriously, if there’s a shade you think you like, try it. You won’t regret it.

Let’s talk about this blood-red hue, that I didn’t expect to love, but totally fell in love with. Credo beauty sent me this product to test out as part of their clean beauty starter kit that launched back in October. It’s the Ilia lipstick in the shade Lucy’s party which is a vamp shade that you can wear sheered out, or you can amplify with several layers for a more vampy look. The formula is luminous, silky, and nourishing. It emulsifies on the lips so easily, and it’s buttery soft. I love how heavy the packaging feels and it looks so chic.

Left to Right: Kosas Rosewater, Kosas Undone, Henne Organics Bare, YSL No1, Ilia Lucy’s Party, Chanel No98, Noto Botanics Oscillate

CHANEL is known for their beautiful lip colors. I’ve owned only one other CHANEL lip product prior to this. I was on the hunt for a perfect brown hued orange toned red. I stumbled across the rouge allure number 98 also known as Coromandel. After swatching what seemed like 80 different shades from various brands. It is perfect. It gives my lips a hue that is very hard to describe. It’s not quite red, it’s not quite brown, and it’s definitely intense. I like to dab it on and smear it with my finger for a really lived-in look. I don’t like it too look too done or perfect. I love this formula! It’s definitely long-wearing, and it doesn’t transfer to my chin after I eat lunch. Embarrassing, I know – but it happens to the best of us. It’s noteworthy when it doesn’t happen for sure.

Honorable mention to Noto Botanics multi-benne tinted stick in Oscillate. I love this because of the small packaging, but it also has a very cherry hue to it. The peppermint oil tingles my lips and I feel a blood rush whenever I wear it. It’s actually quite the experience. Let’s not leave out the YSL Volupté Tint-in-Balm in number 1. It’s a very flattering nude-pinky shade that leaves the lips soft instantly and smooths over any chapped spots. The fragrance is overwhelming, but I love this formula too much to give it up. Lastly, the Henné organics lip tint is a great product. I don’t love the hue too much against my skin tone because it comes off a little bit too pale, but I definitely love the formula and want to try some of the more vibrant shades from them!

What has been your favorite lip treatment or lip color this year? Let me know, as I would love to check it out!

The Pur-lisse and Ilia products were sent to me as a PR gift. The rest of the items I have purchased myself. All opinions are my own.
