If you’ve been on my Instagram feed you know I’m an avid chemical exfoliant fan! I’ve tried so many, and I love the effect they have on my skin. It’s difficult to say which acid I prefer because I’ve found that acid ‘cocktails’ is what actually works best for me. When Oumere reached out to me to introduce me to their chemical exfoliant No. 9 I was more than impressed with their approach to skincare. They are based in Los Angeles and the founder, Wendy Ouriel is a cellular biology expert.
The ingredients in this product are to die for
Lactic acid, mandelic acid, lactobionic acid, apple cider vinegar, willow bark extract (salicylic acid), turmeric extract, and aloe are some of my favorite ingredients in this product.
What is it?
It is potent and it smells like vinegar, but it is amazingly gentle at the same time. It works hard and fast to eat away any dead skin to reveal a glowy complexion. It manages to balance your skin so you can be more hydrated without producing excess oil and by removing the dead skin you have less congestion. These acids are extremely helpful to acne prone skin types like mine because they help keep the pores clear.
I use this at night, right after I cleanse. I use several drops to saturate the center of a 2×2 gauze and then start pressing the gauze on the skin starting from the jawline and up. Never drag or rub. I like to take it slightly into my hairline to ensure any debris is eliminated. Let it sink in for several seconds, then follow with a hydrating serum or my favorite moisturizer and sleeping mask.
What are the results?
The next morning I wake up with glowing skin. The tone is more even. The skin feels baby smooth. Congested pores or inflammation is significantly decreased if not gone. Brighter, almost shiny complexion. It helps with hyperpigmentation, scarring from acne, texture issues, closed comedones, fine lines, rough patches, and can help balance the skin so it doesn’t produce excess oil. I can use this every night now, but if you are a beginner you could start with every other night and maybe adding a bit of water in the gauze in the beginning to dilute. It will sting at first, but once the skin is balanced it won’t sting anymore.
Would I repurchase?
I think the price is a little bit too steep for me to repurchase, but I would consider it. They offer free shipping to all US orders however, which is extremely generous. I love the thought that goes into this product, the packaging, the branding. It’s all so refreshing!
