I’ve always been infatuated with the Paula’s Choice brand. Not only because Paula Begoun is the cosmetics cop, but also because the products just work! Everything Paula makes is gentle and safe for the skin. With that promise, I’m always comfortable trying out her products. Also, she just acts based on research and holds the same ideals as I do: no fragrance, no essential oils, no drying alcohols. My holy trinity! These are the skin disruptors I swear off because since they’ve been out of my life, my skin has found its piece (finally!).
Paula’s Choice was kind enough to send me their entire range of boosters. Here are the ones I tried and tested!
I’ve tried my fair share of vitamin c products. I have seen different results with all of them. This one has been so gentle, yet so effective. I really love the consistency. It’s watery but feels hydrating at the same time. Never leaves a sticky residue after application. Lays perfectly under makeup. Most importantly, it WORKS! I finished my first bottle within 3 months. Now I’m on my second one. My skin tone is more even than ever, my pores appear refined, and I’m comfortable that my skin can fight off free radicals during the day. I keep this in my mini skincare fridge for maximum shelf life and efficacy.
Now, this stuff is potent. If used consistently it could cause some irritation. I only use it when I experience breakouts. I use it in the mornings directly on the breakout but give it a rest every other day to avoid overwhelming or over sensitizing the skin. I wouldn’t recommend using this all over. It works like a charm to diminish post-inflammatory pigmentation or other concentrated pigmentation. The formula is thicker and comes in a paste-like texture but it wears nicely under makeup.
This one comes in an airless, tight pump. Amen! It’s the perfect jelly consistency, it smooths over the skin, it hydrates, it gives a fullness and plumpness. I couldn’t ask for more. I just love using this. It’s so refreshing and so hydrating without bogging down the skin with extra “stuff”. This is SO appropriate for oily and dehydrated skin like mine. I love to top it off with a lightweight gel-like moisturizer like Bioderma Sensibio Light or CosRX overnight honey mask.
You must know Niacinamide, and if you haven’t heard of this powerful ingredient, you’re missing out! Just kidding, it’s probably in most of your brightening or pore-tightening products. Niacinamide helps aid in a variety of ways. It’s in abundance in the majority of my skincare, as I look for it everywhere. It’s so good for my acne prone and seborrheic skin. Niacinamide can help visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, brighten, reduce fine lines and help weakened skin barriers. This makes it an excellent ingredient to help with acne and acne scarring! It’s a water-like liquid that completely absorbs in the skin. Sometimes I use it in the AM with my Vitamin C, sometimes I use it at night in addition to my moisturizer. It’s so versatile.
If there’s one product from the line I can’t fully get a grasp on, it’s this one! I see it as nourishment and food for the skin. It’s a great addition to any moisturizer to give it slip and some depth. However, I can’t say I see specific results from it. It’s possible it’s not specifically appropriate for my skin concerns. It claims to “unlock firmer-looking skin with eight powerful peptides that make skin more resilient and reduce the appearance of lines”. I think I’d be interested to hear about this from more mature skin users! Let me know if you’ve tried it and loved it.
